I like Mariam, but I think she is too harsh on herself. She believes her mothers death is her fault when Nana was just a bitter woman who had committed suicide out of spite. It also bothers me how she lets Rasheed get to her to easily, and continues to allow him to make her feel like she's worthless because she's has multiple misscarriages, which is obviously no ones fault.
